Vendor Spotlight – Blush and Honey

Everyone deserves to look and feel like a princess on their wedding day, but finding who to trust with that vision can be stressful. When referring vendors to our clients, we always think of one of our favorite Nashville wedding vendors, Blush and Honey. We loved having the opportunity to sit down with Hallie and learn more about the women behind the brush.

What was your dream job growing up?

I remember telling my best friend in fifth grade that I wanted to live in Paris and paint masterpieces from a secret loft over looking the city. Very dramatic. Then as I got into middle school I wanted to work in the fast paced fashion world, twirling locks and painting wild lips!

bh2What does a typical wedding day look like for you/the whole team?

We usually come primped, prepped and well caffeinated! We organize a station custom to whatever venue we are working in and then follow through with timelines. Staying on time is one of the most important things we can do for our brides. So while we are focused on the paint and powder, there are still lots of smiles, laughs, secrets being shared. I love that.

bh4How did you get into the business?

I had a passion and pursued it at a young age. I began attending beauty school when In the 10th grade (2008) and had scheduled an interview with a local salon before I could drive. My parents wanted me to focus on school and wait to work, but I actually snuck out and had my best friend drive me to my first interview. That was my start in the industry, as the owners assistant to one of the funniest most talented women I have ever known. She taught me everything through the following years and I still learn from her today. I treasure those years so much because they have so much to do with the business woman I am today. Her skill, honesty and kindness have transcended into what the heart of what Blush + Honey is.

How long have you been in business?

Including school 8 years.  While I love to learn, a structured school schedule was difficult for a free spirit like myself. So, it counts.

bh1What is your favorite type of hairstyle to do?

I love sexy, soft, free hair. I love hair that has its own spirit and creatively compliments its person.

What celebrity would you most like to be hired by to do hair and makeup?

Oh! That is tough. I really love Emma Stone, a lot. I think everyone is truly beautiful in their own way. If I could have my ideal client she would have the guts of Cher, the heart of Dollie Parton and the perfect pout of Brigitte Bardot with a little Goldie Hawn magic. Beauty truly comes from the inside out, once that is on point, my job becomes about cultivating that beauty and creatively presenting it in our physical form.bh5

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

I love the idea of hiking to the temples in Bali. I love the honor of sharing sacred spaces. Honestly,  just toss me on a float in the ocean with a pineapple and a book and I’m happy.
