Vendor Spotlight – Kathy’s Sugar and Spice Catering

Kathy’s Sugar and Spice is located in Gallatin Tennessee. This team makes everything from scratch with the freshest ingredients! Kathy Dennis from Kathy’s Sugar and Spice sat down with us to talk about what her company does best, and that is making her clients foodie dreams come true! What does a typical wedding day look like for you?

We usually start our day around 9am, we get packed up and finish all cooking and prep work. Our team arrives about 45 minutes to an hour before we leave, we try to take a few minutes to share the event details with everyone and we head out. We arrive about 2 hours before the ceremony so we have plenty of time to set up and settle into each of our jobs for the evening. Then we get to the fun part of serving guests, sadly, all good things must come to an end and we have to clean up, no one’s favorite part!

How did you get into the catering business? 

I was the hostess at my church for years and God gave me this opportunity.

Why did you decide to start a business?

I was a stay at home mom and we needed some extra income. I never dreamed this would become a thriving business, but it has become just that.

What would be your dream event to cater? 

I have honestly never thought about that, I feel so blessed that people trust me with their big day. That makes me happy!

Who would be your dream celebrity to cater for? 

I have had the opportunity to cater for a few celebrities and truthfully they are no more and no less important to me than any other client. I always want to do my best, no matter who it is.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Anywhere with my husband. We have been married for 35 years and we are empty nesters, so we love to explore. But I am really wanting to go to Montana, Utah , Wyoming, I hear they are beautiful states to visit.

What was your dream job growing up?

Honestly…being a mom!! And I am a mom of three and grandmother of almost 10.

What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day? 

Serving, I have a servant’s heart, I love greeting and loving on people.
