Vendor Spotlight – Wildberry Catering

When attending a wedding, one of the most memorable aspects of the event is the food. Everybody has to eat; therefore, the food has to be good. Caterers can impact guests with savory and delicious food that they will never forget. This particular catering company, Wildberry Catering, will be our vendor spotlight this month. Their food captures the essence of pleasure and joy. Being so intrigued with their food and positive atmosphere, we decided we wanted to know more about the chef’s behind it.

Brandi Lindsey and her husband Josh own Wildberry Catering. It is the heart and soul of what brings them joy. They work hard, long hours and days, but they never lose sight of why they do what they do.

What was your dream job growing up?

“Growing up, I always thought that I would be a pediatrician or maybe even a teacher.” Little did she know that her dreams would one day change for the better!

What does a typical wedding day look like for Wildberry?

“On a typical wedding day,” Brandi began, “we get up at 5 or 6 a.m. to start prepping all of the food for the event. After the cooking is all finished, we begin loading all of our equipment into our van. We also load in the equipment for the table scaping that we sometimes do. Then, we typically arrive 2 hours before the event to unload, set up, and prepare. During the event, we serve the guests and watch them dig in! After the event concludes, we begin picking up all of the leftover dishes. We rinse them off, and then load everything up in our van again. Once we get back to the cafe, we then have to unload everything there and wash and put away.”

How did you get into the catering business?

” I always loved to cook, and when I got married I loved cooking for my husband and kids. One day, one of my friends asked me to provide food for her sister’s wedding,” Brandi explained. That was the beginning of a new start for Brandi and her husband. “We began doing more weddings here and there, and eventually opened up a cafe and started catering for events!”

How long have you been in the business? Why did you decide to start a business?

“Wildberry Catering has been in business for almost 10 years, and we have owned our cafe for 2 1/2 years. Everything that we make is completely from scratch.” She explained how that makes the joy of watching guests eat and enjoy their food that much more delightful. She takes pride in the food that she prepares, “and I just want to see my brides happy!”

What is your favorite part of an wedding/event day?

Because she takes so much pride in her work, the best part of any event is seeing everyone’s face when they take that first bite of food. “Most of the hard part is over, so we can just take a minute to relax. We can watch the guests talk and laugh and just have a good time. When everyone’s done eating, we get to pick up all of the clean plates,” and we all know that a clean plate means that the food was delicious!

What is your favorite dish to prepare for an event?

“A dish I like to prepare is mashed potatoes, because it typically is a favorite among guests.” Aside from mashed potatoes, Brandi loves to get creative with her food. “I love making things beautiful!” She loves it when she can dress the food up and make it a work of art. For example, certain salads and desserts are fun for her.

What is your favorite dish to prepare at home?

“One of my kid’s favorite foods is salmon, my husband’s favorite is lasagna, and we love mac & cheese.” They work well as comfort food.

What is your dream event to cater for?

“A dream event for me is a wedding where the couple genuinely love each other and their family,” she shared. Brandi has such a beautiful heart for her job and what she does, and loves when she can be a part of the couple’s lives and become a part of the beginning of their journey!

What would be your dream celebrity to cater for?

“Ina Garten-the barefoot contessa for sure! She would be my dream celebrity to cater for! Ina is my idol, and to cook for her would be incredible!” Brandi exclaimed in excitement.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

“Disney World! Without a doubt we would take our two girls to Disney World`,” she quickly responded. Brandi and Josh’s lives are surrounded by the love of their job, and most importantly, their family!

Wildberry Catering has the opportunity to bless so many through their food and sweet nature! Every event for them is an opportunity to share their gifts and talents with many couples.  They get to create an atmosphere through their delicious meals! We are so grateful to have had the chance to interview Brandi to hear why she does what she does!
