We love talking to local vendors and asking them to share their work and who they are as people. For our Vendor Spotlights, we ask a couple questions about wedding days and the planning process in order to help brides get to know vendors professionally and personally. This week, we interviewed SheHeWe Photography. Here’s what owners ilde and Jim Cook had to say.
What was your dream job growing up?
What does a typical wedding day look like for you?
It is something we look forward to! There is a lot of energy and excitement the morning of a shoot. Laughing. Gushing over the perfect gown the bride chose over every other one. The small touches, glances, and sentimental things that choke us up at least once during the day.
ilde is a giggler and loves posing as well as those in-between moments. Jim is the counterbalance- the timeline guy who keeps things moving and on track. Walking that fine line of making sure everyone has a fun, carefree day yet staying on schedule while getting great images is kind of our thing!
How long have you been in business? Why did you decide to start a photography business?
We shot our first wedding about 10 years ago when a friend asked us to shoot her day. We were hooked! We spent the next few years absorbed in the world of capturing moments. It was super scary but we jumped from our regular jobs and created SheHeWe over 7 years ago. Literally, it was the best decision of our lives!!
What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?
That moment 10-20 min right after the wedding where we get to take some epic images of the new bride and groom. Everyone is on cloud 9 and the couple is so full of joy. Oh and Jim loves taking images of some throw down dance moves.
What would be your dream event to photograph?
Jim: Getting to shoot at Pipeline in Hawaii. I’ve always wanted to shoot surfing or any adventure sports.
What is your favorite location in Nashville to photograph?
Oh gosh, this is like picking your favorite kid. That’s extra tough because, for us, the location is secondary to the couple. When the light is good and the couple is completely into each other then we can shoot almost anywhere and know it’s going to be great. We do love State Parks. So many of them almost have a Pacific Northwest vibe.
Who would be your dream celebrity or your dream location to photograph?
We had the opportunity to shoot a music video in Iceland and honestly that was pretty hard to top.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
Jim is actually co-writing this from Uganda, Africa! Travel is a huge part of our lives and we were out of state over 135 days last year. We love adventure, getting to see people live in a different way than us and trying all the foods!
