Talk about a power couple, keep scrolling to see what we learned about them in our fun interview below.
Q: What was your dream job growing up?
I wanted to be an architect and Justin wanted to be a business owner!
Q: What does a typical wedding day look like for you?
My goal for a wedding day is for my couples to have so many amazing photos at the end of the day while spending as little time as possible taking photos so that they are spending their day with the people they invited to share it with. I am efficient and quick and we always stay ahead of schedule. For an actual breakdown of our wedding days: we start our mornings at home with our three little boys (why I prefer in town weddings and have no desire to shoot destination weddings), by midafternoon we typically arrive at the wedding location and document the day! Most weddings we leave in the middle of the reception or stay until the exit. After we arrive home, we back up all of the files and I edit 5 images to mail to the bride that same night!
Q: How long have you been in business?
Why did you decide to start a business? We started photographing weddings early on in college to help pay the bills (we were very very poor 19 year old newlyweds). I had gotten a camera for my high school graduation present and had always loved taking photos. Justin was receiving a minor in film and was getting into video during college too. So, we have been doing this for 11 years now!
Q: What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?
My favorite part of a wedding day is portraits. This is when I feel my most creative and it is nice to just enjoy being with the bride and groom without the noise of the rest of the day.
Q: What is your favorite location in Nashville to photograph?
For just photo sessions, definitely the pedestrian bridge. I know it is overdone, but the lighting is always so nice, I love the depth it provides to photos, and it is the perfect Nashville backdrop. Also, it provides a mix of scenes with Cumberland Park just below it. For wedding venues, we love the Bridge Building! I guess there is a coincidence there, ha. My favorite outdoor space is BonnyMead in Lebanon.
Q: If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
Ketchum, Idaho. It is a quaint town that is special to us. We went there right before our first baby was born and it was one of our most favorite trips.
