Nashville Mehndi Recap – Zarmina & Rafay

This wedding was stunning in every way. Zarmina and Rafay are like a real life prince and princess and had the most perfect Mehndi and wedding last August at Opryland Hotel. We are going to start with sharing their Mehndi ceremony from Gaylord Springs Resort.

What is a Mehndi Ceremony?

The word Mehndi is the temporary application of henna tattoos as part of the wedding preparation. The grooms name is often hidden in the design somewhere. The ceremony itself often has a lounge feel with lots of bright colors and pillows. The most fun part of the ceremony is when all the guests perform the dances they prepared for the bride and groom.

Mehndi Decor

As I mentioned, there are tons of bright colors included in the decor. This Mehndi in particular had a butterfly garden theme and was so incredibly dreamy.

The bride and groom sit in their own stage area on a swing and guests are able to come up and take photos with them. This stage is where all the magic happens throughout the night so the decor is very elaborate. Mina and Rafay even had a mini swing as part of their decor with dolls that got added to it later.

A beautiful display of the favors was created and handed out during the event.

Bride and Groom Photos

Before the ceremony began, Mina and Rafay went around the property of Gaylord Springs to get photos. They sure are a stunning couple.

Mehndi Ceremony

The entrances into the ceremony are one of the other major parts of this celebration. The songs and dances that each group come up with are elaborate and fun with costumes and props. The bride is brought in on what is called a Doli and carried by family and friends.

Once the couple is comfortably seated on the swing, the henna ceremony itself begins followed by dinner and of course the dances.
