This May, we had the pleasure of helping the Smith’s pull off the garden wedding of their dreams. This romantic, outdoor wedding, with some charming rustic touches, took place at the historic East Ivy Mansion in East Nashville — truly a little girl’s fantasy wedding brought to life.
Getting Ready
As we were getting started with all the setup, Katherine and Austin were getting ready for the most important day of their lives.
This private moment of Katherine, already looking bridal in her lace robe, looking at her dress is a photo that she, alongside her new husband will get to treasure, allowing them to always remember how magical this day was.
Likewise, you can see the excitement and anxiousness in Austin’s face as he waits to finally see his bride at the end of the aisle. Finishing touches aren’t just for the ladies. Austin and his groomsmen were decked out from head to toe!
As the girls posed in their matching robes, the guys (who are all part of the music industry in one way or another, including groomsman Devin Dawson) had a mini jam session while they waited on the ladies to finish.
One of the most special parts of getting married is sharing your love with your friends and family. Katherine’s mom helps her little girl get into her dress and when her dad see’s his precious baby all grown up, getting ready to get married, his face simply lights up with joy!
Special Moments
Finally, right before the ceremony, the couple shared a special moment together. The excitement in Katherine’s evident through her radiant smile and Austin’s love for her is obvious, given the dreamy look in his eyes.
The two held hands, it’s clear that after today, they will never let each other go. They even exchanged old fashioned, hand-written love letters with one another. Can it get much more romantic than that?
Wedding Party
Austin and Katherine are surrounded by a wonderful group of friends! The ladies were troopers, taking photos in the rain, each wore a light tan dress that perfectly matched each girl’s personality. The simplicity and more muted color of the bridesmaids dress really allowed for the white flowers to pop.
Ceremony Details
When rain threatened to put a damper on the big day, tents were brought in to keep the guests dry and the party going! The chandeliers and twinkle lights added both a touch of glamour and sophistication to the space, while the beautiful ferns and flowers provided a beautiful backdrop for their “I do’s.”
While the soon to be married couple was getting ready, we added the finishing touches to both the ceremony space and the reception area. Small and personal details are what really made this wedding intimate and unique.
The guestbook was a sweet visual timeline of major life moments that Katherine and Austin have shared together thus far. Guests were encouraged to leave words of wisdom and marriage advice for the newlyweds.
Stunning and creative photos taken by Cassie Adkins Photography are sure to become lasting memories within the lives of this couple. These details shots are to die for and some of the most unique we’ve ever seen!
Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was beautiful! As always, both the bride and the groom got a little teary eyed while reading their vows and as they were saying ‘I do’. It was an extra special moment for these two as Austin’s grandfather stood in as officiant. And sometimes, you gotta bribe the kiddos to walk down the aisle, in this case raisins did the trick.
Bride and Groom Photos
After they made it official, the newlyweds got to snag some photos of them together. Talk about a beautiful couple!
Wedding Reception Details
The absolutely stunning cake by BG Catering was definitely a highlight of the decor! It stood out, with its simple gold foil accents. Truly it was elegant.
However cake wasn’t the only sweet treat available at the reception. The Smith’s opted to have classic chocolate covered strawberries among other desserts for guests to enjoy as well.
To top off the look, a custom gobo with their initials was displayed in the pool of the venue!
Reception Highlights
The bride and groom entered to a path of bubbles which led into their first dance. This wasn’t any normal first dance though, the groom wrote and sang the song special for this moment and it was the first time his bride got to hear it! It was one of the best moments at a wedding that we’ve seen.
Parents then joined their children for a moment alone on the dance floor.
Of course the two had to have fun when cutting the cake and shoved a little icing onto each other’s faces! Nothing starts a party like a cake fight!
The night continued with celebration and jubilee as everyone danced the night away, captivated by the Smith’s love for one another. In other words . . . this group knew how to party!
Overall, the day was all laughs and smiles and nothing could bring the happy couple down, not even rain! They turned it into a romantic movie moment underneath the clear umbrella stealing a quick kiss. It was a beautiful wedding and we were so honored to be a part of it! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Smith!!!
