Lauren and Brice had the most perfect, backyard, Kentucky Lake wedding on June 1st of this year. Brice grew up coming to the lake house with his family and it holds a special place in both he and Lauren’s heart, so it was the perfect place to have their wedding.
Getting Ready
Lauren and her girls started their pampering that morning while they wore matching New York City themed pj’s. Lauren and Brice currently live in NYC and wanted to bring a piece of home into their big day. The team from ALL Bridal got the girls looking their best and ready for the reveal.
Meanwhile, the guys got ready at Green Turtle Bay Resort and headed over to the house via boat. Now that’s an arrival! The guys put on the finishing touches and then it was time for the first look!
First Look and Couple Photos
With a beautiful property surrounded by Kentucky Lake, there were tons of places to choose for the first look. A section lined with trees turned out to be the perfect place. Brice wasn’t able to hide his emotion when he saw his blushing bride and they were so happy to finally see each other.
Wedding Party Photos
After the bride and groom had their time alone, the wedding party consisting of only siblings, joined in for a few shots.. The girls looked fab in their mint green dresses with the pops of blush in the flowers contrasting perfectly. The guys looked dapper with their dark blue suits and ties matching the bridesmaids.
Wedding Ceremony Details
Guests were transported from The Green Turtle Bay Resort via boat and bus. They had the option to arrive a couple hours early and partake in some snacks and lawn games before the nuptials.
Lauren and Brice opted for an unplugged ceremony so their guests were fully present during the I do’s.
The altar was furnished with minimal florals and greenery to not take away too much from the stunning lake view behind it.
Wedding Ceremony Highlights
It was time for the big moment! All the little’s made their way down the aisle, some of them with the help of grandpa and a wagon.
Then Lauren made her way to the altar, escorted by her parents to join her groom. He couldn’t contain his happiness as he saw her walking down toward him!
There are traditional Filipino Catholic wedding customs that involve a veil and cord. For the veil tradition, after the couple has exchanged rings, two chosen people will take one end of the bride’s veil and drape it over the groom’s shoulders. It signifies that they are dressed for the world as one. Next, a white decorative silk cord called a yugal is placed over the couple’s shoulders in the sign of infinity. It symbolizes everlasting fidelity and signifies that they walk the world as equals.
And then they were married!
Cocktail Hour and more Couple Shots
Following the ceremony, Lauren and Brice were whisked off to snag some photos on the lake while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour behind the house. The signature drinks were a mix of town (representing NYC) and country (representing Kentucky).
Reception Details
The reception area was set up and ready for the guests to enter the tent for dinner. Upon their entrance they found their seating cards with a buckeye attached to it which is something Brice’s grandmother always carried around, representing good luck.
Menu cards were placed at each table so the guests could see what they would be having for dinner. A delicious family style meal was about to be served!
The guests were given bourbon balls to take with them at the end of the night, another fantastic representation of Kentucky!
Reception Highlights
After dinner, toasts were given by family and friends. Lauren and Brice shared their first dance as a married couple, followed by a sweet dance with their parents.
Next, it was time for the cake cutting, and boy was it a cake cutting to remember. The guests were given sparklers to hold while the cake was cut and then a firework show started over the lake for everyone to enjoy. The grooms family grew up shooting off fireworks at the lake house and this was the last hoorah at the house, as it was being sold the following week. It was a bittersweet moment as they watched the end of one tradition and the beginning of a new journey.
The guests then went back to dancing to the tunes sung by the Emerald Empire Band and had an amazing night!
