Q: What was your dream job growing up?
A: I was a big Atlanta Braves fan growing up, so I wanted to be the next Chipper Jones. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards 🙂
Q: What does a typical wedding day look like for you?
A: If we’re doing all of the music that day (ceremony, cocktail, and reception) I’ll look over the set list for each that morning to make sure we’ve got everything down. Once I know we’re all set, I’ll usually hang with my wife and kids during the day until I’ve got to head to the venue. First thing I usually do onsite is meet with the venue coordinator and the wedding coordinator to make sure we’re on schedule with everything and see if anything has changed. Then it’s time to set up and get ready to party.
Q: How did you get into the music business?
A: I started playing music right before college and picked up guitar as something to do because I wasn’t playing sports anymore. It took me a couple of years but I finally learned enough songs to play out and was starting to get encouragement from people that would listen to me play who thought it was pretty good. The first show I had was at a dive bar in Athens, GA but the place was packed and everyone was singing along.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: I’ve had the business for 7 years but I’ve been playing for 10 years now.
Q: Why did you decide to start a business?
A: I think there are a few reasons but one of the biggest ones is so that I could have an impact in people’s lives. A lot of business is about serving and I enjoy that aspect of it very much. It doesn’t matter if it’s music, photography, or your local retail shop, if you’ve got a great product and you’re about serving people, you’ve got the makings of a great business.
Q: What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?
A: Always the dancing. It makes it fun to play music when you know that everyone is having a great time.
Q: Who would be your dream celebrity to play for?
A: Either James Taylor or Garth Brooks.
Q: If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
A: Definitely the beach.
Q: What is the most requested wedding song?
A: Recently, it’s been Thomas Rhett’s – Die A Happy Man…but before that it was probably Ed Sheeran’s – Thinking Out Loud.
Q: What’s the best way for people to connect with you?
A: All of our original stuff is up at bobbycoolmusic.com but I’m on a lot of the socials too, so always love connecting with folks there.
