Nashville Vendor Spotlight – John Myers Photography

We love our vendors and want you to be able to get to know them as well! Your wedding day is important, so it’s obviously important to know who you’re working with. Welcome in one of our favorite photographers, John Myers Photography.

Q: What was your dream job growing up?

I wanted to be an actor/model but then realized I wasn’t good looking or buff enough to do that so I got a business degree in Finance instead.

Q: What does a typical wedding day look like for you?

Internally I’m always worried about the timeline and making sure we get all the photos needed to capture how the day happened.  Externally I’m laid back, easy going and personable.  Most important to me is the couple has a good time with us and is able to be in the moment of their wedding day.  I want them to be carefree and enjoy the events versus worrying about all the uncontrollable things that could happen.

Q: How long have you been in business and why did you decide to start a business?

I’ve been a photographer for 9 years and I really liked the creativity of taking photos of people.  I was doing photography as a hobby and one night I couldn’t sleep so I got up and created a FaceBook Business page and here I am.

Q: What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?

Dinner.  By far my favorite part is when I get 10 minutes to eat as fast as I can without getting heartburn.  It’s usually 5 – 6 hours after we arrive and it’s non-stop until then so I’m starving by that point and needing to decompress from the chaos of taking thousands of photos at that point.

Q: What would be your dream event to photograph?

I think one day I’d like to do more sports photography so an NFL game would be fun.

Q: What is your favorite location in Nashville to photograph?

With COVID I’ve done more elopements and I find a lot of joy photographing ceremonies/receptions at homes, in backyards, etc.  Taking photos of places that are meaningful or unique to them is fun and challenging.

Q: Who would be your dream celebrity or you dream location to photograph?

I’m not too big on photographing famous people because they stress me out so a dream location would be Norway.

Q: If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Any national park.  Love to hike and see pretty scenery in the US
