What was your dream job growing up?

As a child, I never gave the typical answer to that question of “I want to be a doctor, or an attorney” when I grow up.  I had larger than life dreams of becoming a singer or a dancer and wanted anything to do with being on stage such as performing, and maybe even television. I knew I wanted something within the entertainment business. So, it’s pretty cool to look back now that I have the experience of working in production when I lived in LA.

What does a typical wedding day look like for you?

Prepping for wedding days typically begins the night before the actual wedding. I make sure my kit is prepped and ready to go. I then check in with my assistants to confirm they are ready for the big day and load all my supplies up while double checking that everything I need is packed.  On wedding days I always arrive early so I have ample time to set up, get organized, and take a breather before beginning the day. Before beginning, I will go over the hair and makeup schedule with the bride and my assistants to confirm we are all on the same page to begin. Wedding days are fast paced, there are typically strict time frames, and I always want to do everything I can to help the bride feel less anxious and more luxurious and beautiful.

How did you get into the beauty business?

After my daughter Mila was born I realized quickly that I wanted to have a job where I was able to stay home with her as much as possible and where I could make my own hours. I had always loved makeup, and a friend suggested I do it for a living since I decided not to go back to my 9-5 job. So I signed up for makeup certification in California with the best instructor I could find and everything sort of fell into place. Upon my instructor’s advice, and very little experience, I took every job I could: paid and (mostly) unpaid. I didn’t care about how much money I made. I loved everything about makeup such as the hustle and bustle of the entertainment business, being surrounded by amazing people that I had looked up to growing up and being able to lift women up.

What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?

My favorite part of a wedding day is watching my bride walk out in her dress and seeing the look of amazement from all of her loved ones. Knowing that I was able to bring someone’s vision to life that they have had since they were a little girl makes my job so worthwhile.

What is your favorite color palette to work with?

For weddings, neutrals of course! I’m always up for a pop of color, though!

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I recently started dancing again, a passion I lost when I was a teen. I love to travel, I want to see it all. Hiking and doing anything outdoors, especially when it is beach related is something I enjoy. I also love hanging out with my kids and being around my family and close friends. There is never a dull moment.

Who would be your dream celebrity to do hair and makeup for?

I would love to do hair and makeup on Celine Dion, she’s such a classy and strong woman. Her story is so inspiring to me. I’d even love glamming Lady Gaga, so I’d have the opportunity to play more with the glam.
