Vendor Spotlight – Kara Warren Photography

One of our favorite parts of this industry is getting to know the talented creatives who help bring wedding days to life. Today, we’re sitting down with photographer Kara Warren to learn more about the person behind the camera; from what inspires her work to the moments she loves capturing most. Keep reading to get to know Kara a little better and discover what makes her approach to wedding photography so special.

What was your dream job growing up?

 K- “I dreamed of being a doctor growing up! I actually went to school for that and got a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology, but my calling ended up finding me after college!”

What does a typical wedding day look like for you?

K- “My typical wedding day consists of a slow morning to start: sleeping in, pouring a cup of French press, and finding my rhythms of rest. A breakfast FEAST is a priority to make sure I am properly fueled for the day, followed by walking my puppy, Banks, if I am shooting a local wedding. Then I start my wedding preparations by reviewing information, finalizing game plans, and casting vision for the overall day, before heading off to meet my second shooter at the venue and finish all wedding prep. Myself and my team usually find ourselves shooting for the next 8.5-12 hours, and once I wrap, I always love to stop by good ole Arby’s and get a roast beef sandwich (the only thing usually open at that time of night that I like haha)!!!! Wedding days feel like game days to me, so energy is high!!”

How long have you been in business? Why did you decide to start a business?

K- “I am wrapping up my 4th year in photography, starting year 5! I started my business because I really felt called into this career by someone greater than myself. It took a leap of faith to start my business and freelance full time out of the gate, but now I couldn’t imagine it any other way!”

What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day? 

K- “My favorite part of a wedding day: ALL OF IT. Truly, I don’t know if I could pick a favorite. Each moment holds so much meaning for different reasons, from Dad looking over at his daughter while walking down the isle, the joy right after ceremony, the beautiful vision each bride has spent countless hours perfecting, the tear rolling down mom’s cheek, the radiance of fresh flowers, the laughter and singing with the band while the couple celebrates with the people they love the most. I believe every moment tells the story of the love and celebration of the best day of people’s lives, and every moment deserves to be captured in the fullness of its glory.”

What would be your dream event to photograph? 

K- “My dream event to capture would be a Free People Campaign in South America, New York Bridal Fashion Week, and a wedding reception on a catamaran!!”

What is your favorite location in Nashville to photograph? 

K- “My favorite Nashville location to photograph- gosh, so many!! Although I do love so many spots in the city, like Country Music Hall of Fame and Hermitage Hotel, my favorite has to be out in the beautiful hills of Tennessee at Southall.”

Who would be your dream celebrity or you dream location to photograph?

K- “My dream location to photograph has to be a wedding in South Africa, Asia, or Spain! Dream celebrity to photograph: Ella Langley or Forrest Frank!!”

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

 K- “I would go to South Africa!!!!”
