We thought it would be fun to share a little about our team for this months vendor spotlight. So we have chatted with our associate planner, Alex Kournetas and hope you enjoy getting to know her more!
What was your dream job growing up?
A WNBA player. Seriously! But my growth spurt stopped at 5’1” so I had to defer to Plan B. For most of my life I wanted to be a veterinarian and spent a lot of time in Chicago volunteering with animal shelters and getting a lot of great hands on experience. When I got to Nashville, life took me in another direction and I couldn’t be more thrilled with where I ended up!
What does a typical wedding day look like?
A typical wedding day starts with a coffee IV and a quick review session of the details for the day. From that point on, I hit the ground running! I usually like to make a few lists and notes for myself to help prioritize each part of the day (set up, ceremony, reception, and breakdown.) And then once I’m one site, it’s usually a bit of a whirlwind and it all comes together in a magical way.
How long have you been in the business? Why did you start?
I have been planning weddings for three glorious years! My journey to the planner life started when I first landed in Nashville. I was already out of my comfort zone, so I thought I would take a chance and try something I’d never done but always wanted to do. Luckily Alex B was looking to add to the team and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I’m incredibly lucky that she decided to take a chance on me!
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
Talk about a tough decision! I don’t think I can pick just one, but I can probably narrow it down to a few! The first time a groom sees his bride, whether that’s during a first look or at the altar, is so special and sweet. Same goes for the bride and her dad! But I also love when a couple first sees their reception space and their dream becomes a reality.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?
I’d pack my bag for anywhere in Europe! My list of countries to visit is long so if I could knock off even one, I’d be a happy girl. Plus, after this fall wedding season, I could use a good, long, vacation!
How did you get into the wedding planning business?
Fate and luck and a lot of hard work! Like I said, Alex B took a chance on me three years ago when I first moved to Nashville and I’ve never looked back! I can honestly say that I really, wholeheartedly, love my job! I could not be more grateful to Alex for giving me such a great opportunity. We work well together and have such a blast doing this every weekend. I can’t wait for 2018!
Big thanks to Alex K for letting us learn more about her!
