We typically don’t do vendor spotlights for non local companies, but we’ve had the pleasure of working with Mysi of Chicago based company, Soda Fountain Photography and just love their work. They are so creative and are amazing at what they do. You can truly see the incredible talent through their work of art.
For our Vendor Spotlights, we ask a couple questions about wedding days and the planning process to help brides get to know their vendors both professionally and personally. Here’s what Mysi has to say!
1. What was your dream job growing up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian, then and architect, then a plane engineer. Whatever. 🙂
2. What does a typical wedding day look like for you?
It looks like love, wonder, nerves and excitement. Really, anything but typical. My clients tend to be non-traditional and incredibly cool individually and in their relationships. So sometimes we are brunching on a Chicago rooftop, other times we are barefoot in the mud, or surrounding a bonfire, or dancing wildly inside a barn while it pours outside.
3. How long have you been in business? Why did you decide to start a business?
6 years! I decided I couldn’t be a vet because I never want anything to die, I couldn’t be an architect because I am no good at math, and I couldn’t be a plane engineer because I don’t really like flying. Also, one day in 2008 I picked up a camera and it fit me more than anything else had in my entire life. I took pretty pictures and decided to share that with the world.
4. What is your favorite part of a wedding day/event day?
I particularly love toasts and first dances…. Anything that might produce tears. I usually end up crying too, but that’s ok, I just blink a lot and keep shooting.
5. What would be your dream event to photograph?
I would love to shoot a wedding at a roller rink or amusement park. With a lot of color and style and weirdness. Preferably vegan, but I don’t want to jinx this.
6. What is your favorite location in Nashville to photograph?
I am based in Chicago, but when I travel to Nashville, it’s always unique. I love love loved Leipers Fork!!
7. Who would be your dream celebrity or you dream location to photograph?
Lady Gaga… or India.
8. If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I would grab onto my boyfriend and suddenly be inside a tiny, cozy tin-roofed home in the mountains in the rain. Always in the rain.
We know our vendors are very busy so big thanks Mysi for taking the time to participate! Be sure to check them out!
